Facebook Disabeled My Account
At first I thought I had input the wrong password but after the third try I took a look at the small text above the login form that read, “Your account has been disabled. If you have any questions or concerns, you can visit our FAQ page here.” The FAQ’s really offered nothing in the way of advice or resolution so I though I should check my email to see if they had sent me anything. Nothing.
I sent an email to their appeals email address. It’s been about 18 hours and I have not heard a thing.
I don’t use Facebook for much but I use it a lot. Everything I connect to online feeds into my facebook account. This blog for instance, my meetup groups, twitter: it all feeds Facebook and there many friends commenting on what I’m doing. I seem to be using Facebook for it’s intended purpose of social networking so why this sudden death of my account without warning?
It makes me look at a lot of social networking companies with a lot of suspicion. What if I built up a business network of customers and associates on Twitter to find it all gone one day?
For now I have this blog. Even though the design isn’t finished I’m going to have to use it to keep those who care updated.

Hi my name is Ben the exact same thing has happened to me yesterday 16th April’ 2009. I was logged on my profile playing a game called Mafia Wars when my account just closed at first I thought nothing of it and tried to log back in like you I did it about 3 times until i read the notice saying your account has been disabled. I have NO idea why no warning no e-mail from Facebook explaining why they had disabled my account. I sent an e-mail to their support 24 hours again and still have no reply from them so I’m pretty much stuck to be honest!
I read that you sent a e-mail to their support did you ever get a reply from them? If so how long did it take them in the end to reply and more importantly was the problem resolved did Facebook activate your account again so you could log in?
Kind Regards
Ben
Hi Ben,
I did get a response and my account re-activated and I posted about it here…

It took about 48 + hours to get a response from them. Nothing I did mattered. They move at a their own speed. From my understanding, they’ll only remove accounts if they have had a complaint about something. I don’t believe they have any kind of time to police things on their own accord. Once they remove the offending material from your account, it will come back (most likely).
It’s absurd how the system of morality works in Facebook. A big reminder that we don’t own the material placed there.
